Meet the 179, a Formula 1 car of 1979 to 1982. It existed in many forms, none of them much good. In 63 races it got one pole position and no wins. It had a 3 litre V12, dating as it did from a time when you could design an engine any way you liked so long as it was under 3 litres NA or 1.5 supercharged.
It’s other claim to fame is the late Patrick Depailler, who sadly became the late while testing a 179F in 1980.
